Description
I liked the variety of sinuous lines of these vines which were creeping on the ground and up bushes and trees. I’m sure they are an invasive species of some sort. I broke some off and took them home to try to make something of them to consolidate the lines. I’ve never tried anything like this before.
Specific Feedback
Which do you prefer, black on white or white on black?
Any other feedback would be appreciated.
Hi Chris,
What a wonderful find. I like both versions, but they evoke very different feelings. The white one feels ancient, pagan and promising; the dark one feels nostalgic and a bit melancholy. I cannot choose. Therefore, I say diptych!

I’d go with the white background, Chris. It’s an utterly gorgeous composition but with the white vegetation on the black background the shadows are still gray and they look weird to my eye. If you could eliminate the shadows , it might work.
Like the idea of a diptych. Actually to me, the shadow on the white background are what give it a little extra depth that I don’t get with the black background. Great find and really nice design.
Picture This says this is Chinese Cucumber – and it doesn’t look well! (I’m always amazed at what it can ID!) I think it is gorgeous – yes – flip one and do a diptych!! Both work for me, with some preference for the top one, but I can’t figure out why. You did a fantastic arrangement and processing!
Chris, I too prefer the white version. There’s more of a sense of elegance and invitation while the black version feels more dramatic. I like the added interest from the shadows in both views.
Nature has many ways. And PS (?) seems to help to create new ones. Nice experiment, with a slight preference on my side for the white version. But a diptych certainly is a good idea. May we see it when it is done?
Chris: About the only thing negative (?) I could say about this is that you have set a very high standard for yourself if you do more. Both are marvelous and almost a coin toss for me but I do have a preference for the white BG because of the subtle shadows. Wonderfully conceived, captured and presented. >=))>
