White Rhino Bums

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I was recently in Namibia. During a game drive at the Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch we saw this mating pair of rhinos. We were invited to get out of the vehicle and take photos from the ground. What an amazing experience.

I’ve developed a unique fascination with photographing animals from behind. There’s something inherently charming and candid about these perspectives that often go unnoticed. I aim to present a playful yet intimate view of their world… Through these unconventional portraits, I hope to inspire a deeper connection and appreciation for the animal kingdom.

Specific Feedback

I’m always open to feedback. Let me know how I could improve the image to enhance the viewers experience.

Technical Details

Nikon Z8, 1/640 sec at f / 9; ISO 1250, focal length 120 mm. Post processing in LR

@debbie1, Welcome to NPN! Such a cool perspective! I find that I tend to wind up with animal bums more often than not, but hadn’t viewed them as the intent of my images. Thanks for making me take a second look. I appreciate that you mentioned these were a mating pair - many hopes for a successful pregnancy and growth for the baby.

Debbie, welcome to NPN and the Weekly Challenge. This is a view good for a big grin! I especially like the mirroring of the curved tails and the detailed texture in their skin. Overall the colors look very real with the bit of dust a good addition.

Welcome @debbie1
What makes the image for me is the two facing tails.

Me too. Thank you.

Thank you, Denise. You will likely see more back end shots from me over time.
