White Rhino

FREEDOM! That’s the feeling I have now that I’m fully retired. For my retirement, my wife and I spent 17 days in south Africa. On our first safari I took along my camera with a 150-600 lens. I had no idea we would be seeing the animals from such a short distance. This large male white rhino is old, battle scared and magnificent.

D850, 150-600 at 150 hand held, ISO 1600, f5.6, 1/5000 second

I had the ISO and shutter speed high for shots while the jeep was moving and, in the excitement, didn’t think to adjust them.

It has great details in the skin and eye, you managed to give it a nice cut too !
You didn’t really needed the ISO that high, but I understand the excitement, anyway you’re shooting with D850.
