While experimenting with effects of zooming in and out during a long exposure. Wanted a sharper center but changing the focal length probably prevented that.

@Jim_Lockhart This is a fun image. It’s also another technique I’d like to try. Do you try any with a wider crop or longer zoom range? You can definitely see the effect, but I would be interested to see more of it. It does give a nice soft feel this way with some motion but not overly long lines.
Hi @karlag, thank you, and it was fun to create. I had taken a course and the instructor suggested trying it. With digital, you can experiment with different techniques and get instant feedback. For this shot I arranged to have the yellow fill my frame (telescopic focal range) then slowly zoomed out during the 5 second exposure. It’s not cropped, and I purposely didn’t want to show the entire flower to leave something to the imagination.
Beautiful, with lovely colors and movement!!! I love the slightly off-center framing. The center portion is sharp enough for my taste, with enough detail.
