Wilson's Snipe

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I rarely get to see this species so it was a treat when this one came in close at the state park pond early yesterday morning. Only the head was lit by sunlight so I raised the shadows throughout the image.

Specific Feedback

Any thoughts on how this looks with only the head and neck in sunlight?

Very need to get that spotlight effect on the head and beak, Allen. It makes for an extra level of interest in the image.

Hi Allen
Love the sun coming up over the ridge and just lighting the Snipe head.

Allen, this is really stunning and unique. I love the head/neck being highlighted by the morning sun. I think I’ve only seen a Wilson’s Snipe once or twice… Great shot.

Oh Allen! There has been a few Latham’s Snipe spotted about a 40 minute drive from where I live. I’ve been looking but can’t find them. Quite rare in this area. It seems like the Wilson’s Snipe is not often seen there either.

I love the sun touching the top of the bird. Great pose! Gorgeous little bits of grass putting the bird exactly where he should be. I also like the echoing blues and oranges throughout the image.

What a treat!

Really sweet - that light on the bird is exceptional!
Nice detail, head turn, and environment.
Well-done!

The light is gorgeous. Pose is great, sharp, and I like the crispiness of the grass and elements on the ground right around the bird.
