The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
This tree has experienced many snowfalls in its lifetime. Although it is getting older, it is still able enough to stand strong in the harsh conditions.
Specific Feedback
I chose to go with more of a high key look so the viewer would focus on the shape and texture. I wanted the tree to be solitary in a harsh environment.

Hi Jennifer.
What a stately tree. I can feel it’s longevity and strength but also see it’s vulnerability as it’s lower limbs stretch out toward the ground almost as if it’s stabilizing itself against those harsh winters you mentioned. I like the high key post processing. At first glance, I thought I was looking at a pencil sketching. May I ask, when you were photographing the tree in the moment, did you already decide you wanted to post process as a high key image or did you decide that after you saw the image in Lightroom?
Jennifer, your high key approach has beautifully emphasized the stark and intricate silhouette of the tree, which truly allows the viewer to appreciate its shape and texture. The simplicity of the palette—just the white of the snow and the dark lines of the branches—creates a serene, almost ethereal atmosphere, which effectively conveys the idea of solitude in a harsh environment. Nice work!
Wonderful!! All said above! I love the way the white ground disappears against the white sky, leaving the tree suspended against the fine brush strokes of a FG. Yes, it is a fantastic “sketch” image! The tonalities are beautiful, as is the composition.
Jennifer, this image is exquisite and the high key processing is perfect. The strength and character of this solitary tree resonates with me. This is beautifully done!
Very nice image, Jennifer! The high-key treatment works for me; it’s like a pencil sketch with plenty of paper-white. But most important is the tree, which is both beautiful and characterful. The up-down-up S-curves of the bottom branches are very different from the rest of the tree, which is intriguing on both a real and metaphorical level. I don’t feel harshness from the image; I feel that the tree has no problem with the cold and snow. There’s a stark beauty from our point of view, while the tree is “doing just fine, thank you”.
Well done. Even solitary it is still related to the ground it came from, and the space around it. As you stated, tree has withstood harsh conditions, yet the tree still has a grace, a welcoming, that is beautiful.
Love The Lines and Tone of the photograph. Beautiful photo !!! i would suggest a slight vignette. Try it and see if you like it. Either way This really works great in Black and White !!!
