The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Going through the files yesterday for an upcoming project and I ran across this image that I hadn’t processed at the time. I liked the pose and the background reeds.
Specific Feedback
I warmed this up a bit but I wanted to retain a bit of late fall /early winter feel. Did I succeed?

A truly wonderful image, Dennis. And for me, yes, it has a fall season feel to it. The bird color and the reeds are a good camouflaged look overall. The detail, focus and DOF is excellent throughout. Sometimes the previous image reviews payoff nicely such as this find…
Very nice, Dennis. Great pose and detail and the bittern blends in well with the environment. Not too warm; I tend to think of fall having warm colors with the oranges and reds in the fall foliage (which seemed particularly good this year down here in Oregon). Always nice to get a bittern; a difficult bird to find out in the open like this. Going to NPPNW?
Thanks, Paul. I was actually looking for raptors for my annual planner for my wife, but I have to go back to the originals rather than the npn size for good resolution and all kinds of things pop up.
Bitterns are so elusive. You’ve done very well to capture him in an accessible opening.
I love the pose he has given you and he’s certainly aware that you watching. The image does have a winter feel about it with all the gorgeous red/brown reeds.
Kudos for getting a bittern in the open! I like the fall look - warm grasses and feathers. Composition is pleasing too. Bird has a lot of room to move to the left. Nice find in the archives!
I like the way the bird stands out a bit from the surrounding reeds. He probably didn’t want to, but it makes for an excellent picture. They always looked like they’re wrapped up in an overcoat.
Very nice Dennis.
You got a nice composition with limited distraction from the environment. I think you did an excellent job of putting it all together in one place.
