About This Image

We were in Yellowstone National Park driving the northern tier when we saw this red fox near Floating Island Pond. He was quite engrossed in his hunting and I managed to get a couple photos. It was quite fun to watch him slowly move through the snow, pausing and listening every so often.

Oh! This is a cracker ! I think you have handled the snow and the fox’s fur very well. The background is nice and gives a little context to his environment.

Lighting is great, colour and framing spot on. No nits from me.

This is an outstanding capture. I would not change a thing. Wall hanger!

Thanks Glenys

Thank you Dave

Fantastic shot— you can feel the intensity of the hunt in the fox’s eyes!

Thanks Tom, it was great fun to watch him slowly move through the snow hunting

Excellent capture Timothy, it does indeed show the determination and fight for survival of a wild fox.

I really like the way my eye is naturally drawn to the dark on the front paws against the lighter foreground and how the darker area of snow on the top half leads my eye back down to the fox. As other have pointed out, you did an excellent job of processing to capture the colors and texture of the fox’s coat.

Excellent capture, composition, beautifully exposed snow and fox, and the pose of the fox does say plenty about survival and “getting on with life”

Love it
No suggestions for improvement sorry

Great as is!

Very nice composition, Tim. Beautiful contrast between the snow and the fox. Excellent balance of the light with the bright snow, with nice exposure compensation. I love the forward motion of the fox and the slight dead space of the foreground, giving you a good depth of field perspective. The background has a nice bokeh to it which brings the fox into full sharp view.

I like the shadow in the snow to the right of the fox with the use of side lighting. You even captured the snow getting kicked up by the movement! You can feel the intenseness of the “hunt.”

Thank you Todd

Wow, what a thrill to see such a beautiful creature in its native habitat. Well done!!
