Description
It’s that time of the year when I get inordinately excited to see any small signs of nature coming back to life. I loved the pose of this little bud, as if it was raising its arms & dancing with joy at the arrival of spring.
Specific Feedback
I’d appreciate any feedback on any aspect of the image.
Yah this is really fun and resonates with the feeling of spring, something I’ve tried to explain to my southerner friends, but they just don’t get it. Maybe I should show them this instead. What kind of shrub is it? I love the colors and the way the whole thing seems to be coming from an egg.
Excellent, Canan. No knowing the plant, the little dead stick protruding underneath doesn’t seem to add much to the image for me, so I’d probably be tempted to crop this considerably tighter, but that’s just my taste. A wonderful find and extremely well presented.
Thanks, Kristen. Yes, only Northerns can understand the joy of seeing these buds. I lived in Los Angeles for 10 years, and, it’s hard to believe but, I missed seasons while I was there. Here in Minnesota, we definitely have all four sesasons, and you can’t beat the joy of that first day of the year when you don’t need a coat outside.
I entered the image into Google Images–it says “red elderberry,” I also posted it in iNaturalist to see if anyone there will come up with other options.
Canan: A great little scene and a good find. I love everything about it except the dark OOF twig below the bud. The dead branch is a fine complement but the dark stuff detracts. I did some quick and dirty AI removal to show you what I had in mind. You really mastered the focus area of the lensbaby. >=))>
This is very evocative, and the dead branch can be seen as its dancing torso. I also like Bill’s removals. We’re just enjoying that Spring feeling in Korea too.
This is a fine image of the beginnings of spring, Canan. It does look like it’s raising it’s “hands” in celebration of spring. I like what @Bill_Fach did. Well done!
