Last autumn I became very interested in spiderwebs. There are so many different constructions. The web in the picture is a horizontal carpet of nets, over which a roughly 20 cm high network of very loose “tripping threads” is woven. The inhabitant is a sheet-web spider.

Kathrin, you’re showing off this sheetweb spider well, with a fine collection of diffraction colors sprinkled throughout the tripping threads. Her forelegs look a bit bright. I do like how she and the main sheet stand out, with the oof threads behind her making me think of rain…
Oh how neat! I love the cobwebby aspect of the construction. Once you notice them, you notice how different each species builds them. Good framing and nice spotlight on the spider itself, too. Not sure about the big refraction stripe at the top…it does get a lot of my attention rather than the spider.

I suspect the spiderwebs are constantly moving. What you see as rain could be the vibrations of the web. Regarding the pale legs: yes, there’s something to that. I’ll make another edit in the next few days.
