Love the deeply furrowed bark. I happen to love spiders, so seeing al those little webs makes me happy there’s life within the bark. I find the out of focus area on the left a bit of a distraction. Also thinking I’d like this shot more if it was a vertical.

What interesting rugged bark – it looks like a paradise for spiders! I think the B/W treatment is a nice abstraction. I don’t mind the OOF area as it is lower in contrast and provides some depth. I love the webs, and the redwood leaves. Well seen and presented!

I like your find and the B&W treatment, Matthew. The webs and old needle tufts work very will with the bark pattern. While I don’t find the out of focus bark on the left distracting, it does give me a feeling that the image is a bit unbalanced with all the in-focus area on one side. If you haven’t already tried it, you might play with cropping.
