Description
I was walking along the boardwalk beside our local river and saw this bird snapping up what looked like yellow seeds. I was amused to see it try to eat this one on its beak. In the end it shook the seed off and gobbled it up.
Specific Feedback
I don’t often get close enough to birds. In this case, as he was only 3 meters away, I’ve let him fill the frame. Is the composition OK?

The composition works for me, Mike, though I think it would be a bit more powerful if you could have gotten flat on the ground (but I don’t know what that would have done to your background). Excellent detail on the bird and the “seed” on the beak makes this rather special.
I always enjoy seeing a new bird posted, Mike, Nice sharp features and interesting colors on this species. It is a pretty straight forward composition and a good profile shot. Not bothered by the angle of the shot at all. Foreground and background are of equal size. Looks like it has got some thread wrapped around that foot.
The composition works, Mike. Good look at the bird. I agree with Stephen, it’s nice to see a new bird being posted. The grain of the wood works well with the bird’s color and wing pattern.
