Yellow Warbler with bug

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This yellow warbler was on a local pond Taken in July 2018. Lighting is kind of difficult in that just behind the lily pads is almost complete shade and is very dark. The light on the bird is actually quite bright and almost harsh even early in the Morning. But I like The bug in the mouth.

I like the bug as well, David. Nice job handling the harsh light. The background seems rather highly saturated with some pretty bold blues which feel odd to me even for shadows. I think reducing the saturation on the background would help keep attention on the bird.

REPOST with reduced saturation in BG… * used theh desaturation brush at 50% multiple times. I dont see much change?

Hi David, light does looks strong but we get a good look at the bird here. Seems like there maybe multiple bugs in the mouth. Feeding chicks perhaps?
Subject is well placed in the frame.

Hi Dave
The low angle, feather detail and bugs make the photograph. The noise in the lily pads is a bigger concern then the over saturation.
Nice photograph.
