Dennis, what a fine collection from this recent year. The diversity across various genre is a real plus too. Each image in it’s own category is excellent. If forced into a favorite for me I feel the two Osprey ? engaged in battle is best for me. Again, very hard not to do a double take on the other scenes as well. I suspect the action in the Osprey scene makes the draw for me in the end… :star_struck:

Dennis, this is a fine collection with a good mix of close ups and larger scenes. I love that wren, they are so feisty and this captures that well. The cranes are great as a mix of real and abstract, is that a composite? The Magnolia is very artistic. The diving bird is amazingly sharp and dramatic. Quite the catch on the Ospreys. Excellent sharpness and dof on the Dragonfly. I like gentle invitation of the leaves writing in the sand and the oxalis peeking through the fallen leaves.

Hi Mark. Yes, the cranes were a composite. They were against a very bland sky and I took the tree reflection shot just about the same time and place so it fit nicely.

What a great collection of images. I love all of them, but leaning toward the osprey, the cranes, the pink flowers, the swallow, the dragonfly, the bee and the first little bird!

It’s a Marsh Wren, Glennie. A very opinionated (territorial) little guy. They were all over at a refuge I visited in February.

Hi Dennis,
These are all gorgeous and a great collection for the year 2025. It is hard to pick a couple of favorites, but here goes. My favorites are the two high key images of the flower and the solitary bird as they are superbly crafted and processed. Great work!

Thank you, Ed. I don’t do it as often as I probably should, but I do like high-key.

Hi Paul. I never was sure whether it was a couple of males arguing or a pair that was debating whether or not to use the nesting platform that one had been perched on just before this action. For the record, no Osprey used that platform (and never have for some reason, even though it’s the closest to the river of half a dozen on the preserve).

All great, Dennis, but my fave is the second to last one - I love how you caught the shadow forming a very original composition; the sand trails complete the picture.

What a great set of images, I like all of them a lot. My favourite is the second one with the birds showing all of the different flight positions, and the BG is just amazing.

Lovely to see your collection of favorites Dennis! All are wonderful, you’ve had a great year. I’m especially partial to the swallow image. Merry Christmas!

What a cool set of marvelous, and marvelously diverse subjects. Expertly taken and creatively processed. The crane composite is quite soothing and beautiful. Excellent battling osprey and I quite like the abstract with the sand, shadows, worm tracks and grass.

@Kris_Smith Thank you. Oddly in the last image you mention, those aren’t worm tracks. They’re patterns created by the grass tips scraping across the sand in the wind. It was the first time I ever noticed them, but once I did, they were quite common.
