Ten Favorites From 2025

Image(s)

Image Description

Well folks, for better or worse ; and in no particular order; here are ten of my favorites from 2025. Earlier in the year I hesitantly purchased a Nikon 100-400. I say hesitantly because I was not sure how much use it would get. Looking back I would say that I probably used it more than any other lens as I loved being able to isolate smaller interesting sections of the landscape. As the year progressed I found myself gravitating more and more towards intimate woodland scenes during the early spring or autumn and these images are a good representation of that interest.

These are all beautiful, Ed. I’m envious of the first three as I’ve never acquired the eye for intimate forest scenes; they always end up just being a jumble. I particularly like the second with the fall colors against what looks like a foggy background. Number nine took me breath away. The fog and layering are just perfect for my taste.

wonderful images! I love the colorful foliage in your woodland images! I also am a huge fan of my 100-400mm and despite the weight I always have it with me in my bag

Ed, this group show how well you used that lens to isolate tree scenes. You’ve got a fine collection of semi-abstract tree views. I will have to visit Trap Pond, it looks so inviting. I particularly like #2 of the falls views with the fallen log and fallen leaves alongside.

What a fine collection of images, you should be very proud. I can very much connect to your love of the 100-400 mm lens, my own favourite lens since many years now has been my 80-300 mm equiv. Since you like a lot to photograph woodland scenes I just want to recommend a Swedish photographer living not far away from my home, Mats Reslow https://www.matsreslowfoto.com/. He is my inspiration when I have decided to tackle woodland scenes next year. … and my favourite image is the last one.

Although I’ve enjoyed these as they were individually posted, it’s wonderful to see them as a group and to see what you enjoyed the most over the year. Keep up the good work in 2026. Merry Christmas!
