A Burst of Spring

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This skipper, the Spring Flat, lives up to its name by appearing now just when everything in Korea is bursting back into exuberance. A female landed for a moment to feed on a wild azalea near the top of our local mountain, then zoomed away.

Specific Feedback

Does the skipper clash with the flowers, or can you live with the splendor of it all?

Technical Details

OM-1 + 100-400mm (@400mm) 1/1600 f13 ISO 1600

Tonal treatment in LR, incl. selective use of Shadows on the base of the skipper with the adjustment brush. Denoise, then Shadows/Highlights and Curves in PS, followed by cropping.

I can live with it, Mike. The skipper is cool and while it’s not a color combination I’d probably pick for my wall, it definitely has an exuberant feel.

Mike: Two of my nemeses; skippers and azaleas. I think you did great, especially with the skipper and the BG color is the perfect complement. Well done. >=))>
