Description

Just having some fun! This may be the first time I’ve liked a shot of a bird looking straight at me. Could have used a bit more DOF though.

Just LR here – NR and a bit of detail emphasized with a little Texture and Clarity; Shadows lifted a bit. Minor sharpening with the low-tech Sharpen slider. Shot in landscape format and cropped from the sides.

Good title, Diane. That’s quite a head turn. Excellent feather detail and a pleasing background.

Really fun! Birds are bendy. Sure the tip of the beak and the tail could be in focus, but you have a lot where it counts. I like the directness of that gaze and the feet are in a fun, sort of lopsided position. Nice catch. Songbirds are tough to shoot sometimes.

Very nice depth of the fields in this image. I’m really enjoying the the unusual look. Excellent feather detail. I like the perch and the background is quite pleasing.
Must be a gold crowned tree, owl…

A very fun shot, Diane. I like the spread leg pose and the rotated head is great!

Hi Diane. Sharp where it counts even down to the feet. Interesting perspective and I like seeing the yellow on the head. Well done.

Crikey! I hope you’ve put this one on i.naturalist!

Wonderful detail from the feathers to the tip of his toes.

Hi Diane
Great head turn and eye contact. 90% of the feathers are sharp, with good color detail. Nice work.

I see I never responded here! Thanks, @Allen_Brooks, @Kris_Smith, @David_Schoen, @Dennis_Plank, @Allen_Sparks, @Glenys_Passier and @Peter_Morrissey! This was a very strange pose – I need to watch these guys more closely – while they are watching me!
