A Romantic Dawn Swim

A pair of Canada Geese take a swim at dawn with steam rising off the lake. I wanted to go with a more environmental take on this shot to show how much steam there was that morning. I also love how the steam slowly fades and the trees seem to appear out of it.

Hi Jenaya
I like the steam coming of the lake, the trees in the back-ground and the geese in the mist, but the only thing I see is your water mark.

A beautiful image, Jenaya. I normally find verticals a bit too tall for my taste, but the way the trees work in this one seems to require the height. Excellent composition.

Hey @Jenaya_Launstein
I like the minimalist feel, and the fading fog on to the top of that dark trees add a beautiful natural gradient to the composition, I do enjoy the vertical height but it may work better (IMO) on a more square crop, cutted from above.
The only thing I would change, as @petersaid, is the water mark, maybe leave just the border one, still It’s a great simple image, very amusing to the eye, thanks for sharing.
Cheers

I like this image very much. Strong composition with complimentary elements of the birds / fog / trees.

I agree with the comment on the logo. I’m sure you know that having it that visible isn’t any deterrent at all to image theft and in this image it is a major distraction.

This is quite beautiful. The warm colored fog rising into the cool tree tops is lovely. The very vertical framing is perfect for the scene. I’m with everyone else on the watermark, though. It is no way would protect this image from theft, as it would be easily cloned out. I can understand if you want it for name recognition, but you have your little banner across the bottom for that.

What a wonderful atmosphere you have captured here. I really love the way the trees seem to materialise above the water. Well done ! Cheers, Hans

You have created wonderful mood in this image. I like the vertical format, but agree that the watermark is distracting. If it is needed, you might lower its opacity. Most creative image.

Really beautiful image. The color is managed well and understated - augmenting the presence and quality of the luminance in the scene. I do wish there was a bit more room for the birds as they have been relegated fairly deep into the lower left corner. The same image from the same perspective shot at just a little shorter focal length would seem to give them more of a sense of place. Still, the shot is very successful as it is. Agree with losing the watermark for an image with such subtle/gentle light. The contrast from the watermark dominates the image. Well seen and captured! Keep up the good work!

Jena, nicely rendered. I love your artistic approach to what you do. The proportion and muted background adds so much drama, that many would have missed. Looking forward to seeing more of your images!
