The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Acorn Woodpeckers were being bullies at the feeders (as always) and this Bullocks male was patiently waiting his turn, hiding in the nearby Clematis. By luck, he gave me a good view. The fog had mostly burned off and the light was too harsh but I couldn’t pass up this last shot. The BG is trees about 300 ft away.
Specific Feedback
All comments welcome.
Technical Details
In LR only a little Shadow and Highlight slider movements. Into PS for NR (barely needed) and some pruning of the unruly vine.

I wouldn’t be able to pass it up either. Really nice job. I like the curvy perch that is probably swaying - mimics their nests as well. Good job taming the highlights in the breast, they look natural, but not eye-melting.
The light doesn’t look bad at all, Diane, and the Clematis makes a downright awesome perch. The pose of the bird and eye contact top this off nicely. A wonderful image of this bird.
I really like the colors you captured. The BG (trees) colors enhance the rest of the shot. And everything is so clear. His patience waiting his turn got you a great shot. It all works out.
Thanks, @Kris_Smith, @Dennis_Plank, @Don_Peters and @SkipsPics! I think I’ll do some real-life pruning on this vine – they like to hide in it when approaching the feeders, but usually completely out of my line of sight.
Thanks, @Sandy_Richards-Brown! I did a lot of pruning and decided to quit before it started looking too cleaned up. But I could do more… Here’s the raw file, cropped to match.
Really nice Diane. Beautiful colors on this striking bird and I like the clean up you did on the clematis and how you toned down the highlights on some of the leaves. Great pose from the bird - a nice look. Pleasing BG. Well done image.
