American Wigeon in-flight & RP

I like the wing position on this. Taken that my local wildlife refuge. A lot of activity on the day I was out there even though the light conditions were quite variable and not always beneficial. This is around 20% of full frame so not as large a crop is some of the other recent postings.
Wish I was closer.

Is this a composite: No
Iso-1600, 400 2X, F5 .6, 2500th, A7r4, handheld, 20 megapixels out of 61 or roughly 20% of full frame.

IQ is better on this one although it seem a tad dark? 20 mp should be plenty…
Why did you switch from Nikon?
Also Wigeon does not have a D in it for sticklers…

Good detail. The background definitely speaks to where you took the shot.

Yes, it’s a tad dark and the light was not so good; cloud shade on the Wigeon. I use dictation software and it doesn’t always get the spelling correct.

Here is a brighter Wigeon.

It looks better for me, bird pops better from the BG.

Thanks heaps for looking at it again!

Nice flight shot in a fitting environment. It is an improvement lighter, but maybe I wouldn’t go quite that far. Something looks a little sub-optimal but I’m not sure what. I’m curious if you lightened the exposure or brought up Shadows?

Both. It looks a little painterly to me. But remember, this is 20% of full frame.

I’d start hedging at maybe 5%. :grinning:

Brighter version appeals a bit more to me. Well done, these are fast flyers ! Cheers, Hans
