An incoming/outgoing pair that pleased my eyes greatly

Image(s)

Image Description

I was walking along the South Shore Trail at Point Lobos State Natural Reserve (California), hoping to discover an interesting composition. I came upon one of the coves where the swell periods were short enough that the water flowing back out of the composition was not finished before the next swell surged back into the composition. A nice complementary incoming/outgoing pair that pleased my eyes greatly. [After I got the shot, I lingered for a while longer, just soaking in the ambiance. It was not long before several other hikers on the trail stopped and asked me what I was shooting. We ended up lazily sharing epic memories that we had also experienced at other locations/times in the Reserve.]

Feedback Requests

I played around with cropping some of the rocks in the upper left corner out of the composition. But I could not find a crop that looked better than this one.

Pertinent Technical Details

Nikon Z7, 70mm, f/4, ISO 64, 1/2 sec. Tweaks in Lightroom Classic. Straightforward.

Franz,

Stunning! Just stunning!

I did not read your description but I thought to myself, that water color looks vaguely familiar to Point Lobos or Garapata water. They have that unique color for some reason. Those areas also have this strange incoming-outgoing wave action as you describe and captured. The water action is remarkable and every area of it has something different happening from splashes to cascades to whirlpooling to fast-moving to stationary. Amazing capture.

My thoughts exactly!

Me too! A very unique capture from an eye-catching viewpoint. Excellent Plus!!

Exceptional! That spray of water is wonderful

I can see why you were pleased, Franz. Well done.

I echo the other comments. Beautiful image. There is a small bit of rock in the LLC that might standout if you print this large.

Franz: Great timing and the perfect SS to capture the wave action. I also like the proportion of water to beach and the overall color palette. Top notch shot.>=))>

Franz, the mix of splash and return is excellent, wow, what a lot of action in the water. The water color is good also and is complemented well by the tones in the stones (typed with a grin…).
