Anna at the Sage

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This is a female anna’s that occasionally shows up to work over our cleveland sage and here’s a pose I got from her. It was a challenge. Lots of action.

Specific Feedback

Cropping? Is the OOF background tolerable, or do I need to obliterate those BG items?

Technical Details

Z9, 180-600 lens, Nikon 1.4 TC, monopod, 1/3200th, f 9.0, ISO 25600, cropped to 3690 x 2912

Good focus on the hummingbird, Dave. It looks like she’s starting to molt. The out of focus sage is a bit distracting-I wish she’d chosen a different bloom on that cluster to hit.

Hi Dave, nice pose you caught and I love the dangling feet. The bloom in the BG isn’t ideal and I could see running NR on the BG too. Perhaps a little more room on the left. Nice catch.

Thanks for the suggestions. You have me stumped on NR. What means that? Curious minds need to know.

NR = noise reduction
