Anna's Hummingbird

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I try to go for a daily walk and unless it’s pouring, I take my camera. As luck would have it this hummer landed on a branch about 20-25 feet in front of me at eye level and gave me a few seconds to fire off a couple of shots. This was taken a few minutes before my previous image of the Bushtit.

Specific Feedback

Any thoughts appreciated.

Wow Allen, excellent! Love the pose with the head turn for us to see the face and eye so well. Also love seeing the backside with all that great feather detail and color. Complimentary background. Nice thin perch and I like the water drop. Subject is well placed in the frame for my taste. Well done.

A lovely simple composition with superb detail throughout. The processing you’ve been using on the feathers has been outstanding lately. Very well done.

Allen, how nice to get a cooperative subject, that’s pretty rare. The details are great, especially with the hanging drop.
