Another Red-winged Blackbird

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I framed this one with the intention of not cropping it because I liked the scene with the bird small in the frame. I do wish the bird hadn’t been doing something to make its beak white, which looks a bit odd to me.

Specific Feedback

I looked at removing the white stem on the right, but liked the way the upper branches of it curved around the bird, so I left it. Opinions on that or anything else in the image are greatly appreciated.

Nice small in the frame image Dennis. Love the subtle, colorful, complimentary background and the layering it provides. The different branches work for me as the bird looks out over its territory.

Hi Dennis
I like the framing, with the Red-winded Black in the upper corner and leaves in the lower left. Nice work.
Peter

I really like the overall photo. I admit at first glance I didn’t see much, but when I enlarged it, I really liked the minimalistic estetic of the photo. The subtle difference in the background above and below the “horizon?”. Makes me realize I need to take a second look on some of the photos I discard immediately.

I like the warm color palette, Dennis, and the background nicely complements the branches. I like the placement of the bird; only wish the eye was more prominent.
