Another reflection shot

Description

A different reflection shot from the same outing at the same creek as the other one I posted. When I saw something I liked, I planted my tripod.

Oh, nicely composed. The framing of the tree reflection by the rocks is lovely. The only thing that catches my eye in a distracting way is the blue sky in the ULC. I could see cropping this to 5x7-ish to eliminate that blue. Or maybe desaturating and darkening it if you don’t want to crop.

Hi Don,
what a beautiful abstract scene. I can very well understand why you placed your tripod here.
I could spend hours shooting scenes like that.

I agree with @Bonnie_Lampley about the URC.

Have you thought about raising the contrast slightly and bringing out the beautiful complementary colors a bit?

It is only a thought. A great shot to play around with creatively.
But your image is wonderful as it is.

A third vote for eliminating the blue in the URC, Don. Beautiful composition.

A wonderful find, beautifully presented. I don’t mind the sky reflection in the URC, as it gives an interesting shape to the rocky area reaching up that way, but I can see the result of filling it in keeps my eye in the interesting center area. I love soft colors – gold rocks, green leaves and blue sky work so well together, and the patch of brown leaves in the center are a nice touch. I also love the way the rocks show underwater and fade away.

Bonnie, Jens, Dennis, Diane, thanks to all of you for the responses.

Jens and Bonnie, your suggestions are excellent and would result in a more appealing image than what I posted. I may not make all of those changes for entirely subjective reasons. But thinking them through taught me several things.

Excellent suggestions from the others. Don, another fine example of a reflection image. The trees seem to be superimposed on the rocks almost like a multi exposure image. Wonderful effect!
