The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

The intricate patterns and flowing lines within this sandstone texture evoke the serene beauty of an underwater world. Dark, sweeping arcs suggest the graceful movement of aquatic life, while the layered striations hint at the ancient, geological processes that have shaped this natural wonder. The balance of light and shadow brings to mind the delicate dance of sea creatures and the gentle sway of seaweed, creating a sense of depth and tranquility.

Interesting what we see in these abstracts, Saundie. The dark pattern in the upper left immediately made me think of images I’ve seen of a Dodo’s beak and I’d probably have flipped the image vertically to emphasize that view. Very neat patterns no matter what we see in them.

The flowing shapes are super - I can see why you called this an aquascape. Overall, it’s not working so great for me, though, because that inner bright area is too big in the frame. I’m wanting to see more flowing shapes, less of the rather featureless bright area. If there were a larger view with more dark areas, I think it would work better.

This is amazing! Although I could wish for a slightly wider frame, I can imagine there could be other shapes interfering and I can happily accept this framing. I think the somewhat crowded feeling makes me look around more carefully at the very unusual structures.

First immediate thought was sharks or stingrays circling each other. Do you happen to have a wider view of this scene? I tend to agree with Bonnie about the featureless bright area that dominates the composition. Not sure how to resolve that without involving some multiple exposure work in Photoshop. Kudos for seeing the potential in the scene Saundie. I love the idea behind it.

Intriguing image.
I see Dennis’s Dodo!

Thanks for the constructive feedback!

While I understand that some may find the white space in this image excessive, I actually see it as essential. The shape of the void not only adds interest but also guides the eye to explore the surrounding elements. The beauty of abstract space is that it thrives on individual interpretation. This abstract nature makes opinions more subjective and varied, allowing each viewer to connect with the image in their unique way. I also appreciate the opinions of those who don’t align with mine, as it enriches the dialogue around the artwork.
