The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I don’t normally “lead the witness” with the Title and ICM’s, allowing the viewer to have their own impression. I’m not sure how obvious it is to others that this is all sand, surf and rock - the beach at Asilomar, Pacific Grove CA
I’m not sure if the blue “surf” up top helps to tell that story or not. I do like the combined colors and tones.
Specific Feedback
As always, all comments and suggestions welcome and appreciated.
I’m curious if you see what my title eludes to. Although the processing isn’t dramatic and doesn’t really support or fit the notion of a 1950’s Sci-Fi film… but what came to mind were titles like, “Attack of the Killer Tamatos” or the “The Attack of the Giant Leeches”, “Attack of the Killer Bees” - you know the genre.
Too much of a stretch for the title?
Anyway, just for fun. Thanks for looking and commenting!
Can’t say I’m a fan of the 1950s sci-fi genre, but I do really like the title – and reallyLOVE the image! I would have guessed a rocky beach but you have managed to paint the rocks with completely wonderful brushstrokes.
I might soften the darker area in the LR corner, and have to wonder about desaturating the cyan quite a bit, but I’m not sure why. Very cool image in any case!
And I just saw that it rolled up on the EP list! Congratulations – very well-deserved!
I love this Lon, I’m not normally a great fan of the abstract, but this works so well for me.
Do I need to know that it is crabs on a beach ? Actually I think that I do (limited imagination!), then I can appreciate how cleverly the image has been controlled to create such a lovely form of colours and light.
Thank you Diane. Good observation on the LRC. Actually, that corner was 2-3 times darker in the original. Not placed good for any crop really, so I used a couple techniques (painting, burning) to reduce, but not eliminate. I suppose I could go lighter, but knowing where it came from, I’m good with that.
Also, good call on the cyan. I haven’t re-played with the image yet, but will certainly keep that in mind!
I think you’re right Dennis. I also think it’s a catch-22… Titles can often pre-dispose a viewer’s reaction - both good and bad. In this case I felt I wanted to lead the viewer… but that isn’t always appropriate.
Thank you Ryan! I’m glad this one resonated with you.
