Description

Just driving around in Vermont, we came upon this farm and were stunned with the fall colours. A couple bare patches in the grass filled in.

Beautiful New England scene!

Donna and I always enjoyed getting in the car on a Sunday morning and spending the day driving the back roads of NH and VT. It’s amazing the beauty we would find on such outings.

Nice job capturing this one!

This is just a classic Vermont scene Sandy. I love it. I want to be there and just take it all in with a wonderful country drive. Thank you for putting me there in this one.

Hi Sandy,
This is a classic New England scene. I have only been to Vermont once, but this makes me want to go back. My only suggestion would be to dial the saturation (especially the blue) back just a little as it looks a little strong; at least for my tastes. I love that white fence and the way it takes me into this autumn landscape.

Thanks, Ed - dialed back a bit, altthough the original was the way we remembered it.

I’ve never been to Vermont before but this is where I’d want to go if I someday find my way there. I think this is very well composed and I love that you used the road to lead the viewer into the scene and take them to that beautiful home on the hill. You’ve captured wonderful fall colors as well.
I thought this may have a slight blue cast to it so I brought it into LR and made a few Hue and Temperature adjustments but my new monitor is leading me to believe that everything has a blue cast to it so let me know if this doesn’t work for you. I also added a bit of light globally and lifted the blacks and shadows in the trees just left of the house where the road splits off. What a lovely scene. Is this just off the side of the road on an afternoon drive?

Hi, Dave - congrats on being chosen as a new Landscape moderator!
Thank you for the very thoughtful critique; much appreciated.
I like your suggestions, and have added an Edit. I didn’t lift the shadows, though, as that felt a bit washed out.
This was just off a back road as we were driving around. The best images are often unplanned and unexpected! There were several beautiful farms we found.
