Description

Roaring Brook is always a fine place to be in the autumn. Water was low this year, but not as low as many places…

Hi Guy,
I have a fondness for the warm tones of the rocks found in the streams and rivers of the New England states and this one works very nicely IMO. The detail captured in the water with your chosen SS works beautifully. I also like the bit of mystery with the shadows at the top left edge and the way the fallen tree directs the viewer into that area. My only suggestion; and this is being really picky; would be to clone out the brighter edge of stone just above the middle of the right edge. This turned out really nice!

Beautiful image, Guy. I really like steam images, and this one captures all the elements well. From the choice of shutter speed to the composition and the post processing. Well done.

Hi @Ed_Lowe , @steven8 , Thank you for taking the time to consider and comment on the image. I hope it allowed you to share a moment of Vermont Autumn.

It does’t say autumn to me exactly, but I like the somber mood and low light. The colors look natural to me and there is still some detail in the water. Good suggestion of movement. In addition to the bright spot already pointed out, I’d go after another just below it near the other corner. I also wonder if some darkening and contouring of the large foreground rock could help unblock some of the throughline in the shot. It feels a bit to anchory rather than spring-boardy if you know what I mean.
