Description

Color along Roaring Brook, my favorite stream. Another image from this weird autumn, late September but already lots of leaf drop.

I like it - a very New England scene. The foliage color looks good too me and I like the rocks and the motion of the water.

Very nice composition Guy, I think portrait was a good choice for this location. I like that you arranged the stream to flow diagonally through the image and there is a nice balance between the stream rocks and foliage. Glad that the foliage color is somewhat muted and doesn’t attempt to overwhelm the scene with “louder” colors.

The mix of trunk and branch lines with the clinging color is very nice. The whiter trunks on the right add a lot.

I wrestle with partial streams like this because they feel a bit cut off to me; they lead my eye in directions that miss the better stuff above. This is a constant battle I find with my own photography trying to capture the wonderful rivers and streams we have around here; maybe I just worry about it too much.
