Description
This is an image from a hike in Vienna Woods in Lower Austria in early November this year. The interplay of the bright barks of the birches, their subtle twigs and the particular colour of the foliage was especially interesting for me.

This is wonderful Peter! Usually I get annoyed by the foreground obstructing the background, but sometimes breaking the rules works much better. Here, the red leaves and small branches form a nice "tease’ for the beautiful trunks behind. I also like the way the trunks shorten and thicken as you move from left to right.
My only complaint is that you posted it so small. It looks like there is wonderful detail in there, but it’s lost at this small size.
I find this to be pretty interesting, Peter. I think this works because of the ramrod straight birch trees in the background lined up up neat and orderly. I like the veil of leaves and branches in the foreground allowing just snippets of those trunks to show through. The color looks to be about peak or a little after peak providing plenty of color and I think the composition is really good. You might consider dodging the dark area of the tree trunk in the URC as it grabs my eye. I would love to be able to see more detail in this image but you posted it so small it’s hard to tell.
Hi Peter,
This is an intriguing image. My thoughts pretty much echo those of @John_Williams and @David_Haynes on this one. Normally I don’t care for having those FG limbs block my view, but I think it works here. It is almost like a tease giving the viewer little snippets of the trees in the BG. I also quite like the red/rust colors of the autumn leaves. Very nicely done.
