Description
Bananaquit, Brazil
These hyperactive, 4-inch birds are quite common and often in pairs or small family groups. Bananaquits are members of the Tanager family.
They are sugar-lovers, and often compete with hummers at flowers and feeders, and the bold ones may steal sugar from occupied outdoor restaurant tables. Multi-flash.

What a great pose, peeking through the flowers. Looks like it will need a face-wash after gorging. Personally, I’d lighten the darker parts of the BG a bit at the top, and reaching down to the head. But it’s a lovely catch of this cheeky bird.
Hi Sandy, nice catch and composition. I like the pose of the bird peering out from among the blooms. I like the BG. I’m wondering if just a tad more saturation would give the image a little more pop. Nice catch either way.
There are three catchlights in the bird’s eye. Two are very small perhaps from the use of flash. I could see removing the two small catchlights and leaving the larger one in the upper left of the eye.
Pretty bird, pretty flower, pleasing background: A very attractive image. I didn’t notice the triple catchlight until Allen mentioned it, but would agree with removing the two small bright ones.
Love it. I wouldn’t change a thing. I would’ve had to really blow it up to have even noticed the multiple catchlights in its eye and, even then, they would not have been an issue. Super shot.
