I was hiking during a late summer afternoon in Redwood Canyon SNP and there was a fire 30 miles away that provided a light smokiness to the air. I saw this scene looking west and composed for foreground in focus background soft.

Ken, this is an excellent “forest floor” view. The foreground shows the death and regrowth very well while the slightly smoky background makes it look like early/late light streaming through the trees. The branch coming in at the top helps focus attention on the foreground and limits the distant trees to establishing the setting.
