Bee on flowers

I liked this image because of the soft colors and the bee being inverted. Any suggested improvements would be appreciated.

I like the composition of this a lot too, Nick. And the colors, yellow flowers against that nice smooth background. I am not sure if it is the noise that is doing it (in the larger view I see a fair amount of noise, but at ISO 3600, we can expect some), but the bee is seeming to be a bit soft. If you have some type of editing software that allows you to remove some of the noise and maybe even sharpen it some, I believe you would have a more pleasing image.

Thanks for your help Shirley. I will have to try your suggestions.

Nick: Indeed a fine comp but it looks like your POF is on some of the flowers and just missed the bee. Not sure how you approach these kind of subjects but since they’re moving you almost have to hand hold and use AF. I just finished working over a butterfly this morning and I set the shutter on high speed and fired away. The AF got the right spot much of the time but also missed a lot. That’s what Recycle Bins are for . Keep up the good work. >=))>

Thanks Bill, I’m sure glad I’m not shooting my old k1000 on film…

Hi Nick, nice composition with the flowers dipping through the frame and I like the colors. I also agree with the observations and suggestions expressed above.

Thanks Allen. I would also have to agree.

Nick, indeed the colors and comp. are gently inviting. I agree with the others about the focus and with Bill’s comment about how many times autofocus on a moving subject just isn’t quit right. You can often get good noise reduction in Raw processing.

Thanks Mark, I shot this on a windy day. The flowers were moving around. I only took a few shots before I gave up. I did some sharpening and noise reduction in Lightroom and it looks a little better.
