Beech leaf shadows on bark

Description: I photograph Beech trees all year long. This photograph of new leaves casting their shadows on the Beech bark is among my favorites. Even without a camera in hand, I look for this pattern when I’m out walking in the woods because it is so satisfying to see, the ultimate in a natural image!

This is divine. It looks like a Chinese painting. If it were mine, I’d have it hanging on my living room wall. Well seen.

Many thanks, Chris. Yes, I think that is one of the reasons I love it too. I grew up in a home with many Chinese scrolls displayed and I often notice it has shaped my sense of things.

John, this is a great view. The mix of colors and clean shadows does have an oriental painting sense.
