Birds and Cattails in the Spring

These photos were taken a couple of weeks ago on a beautiful morning at Talking Waters Garden, in Albany, Oregon. It is the site of a former wood mill and there are a multitude of man-made ponds that attract birds. Many of the ponds are overgrown with cattails, providing a nesting environment for these birds.

Allen, these are fantastic. Great images all. I will have to get down there soon. I’ve never been. I assume it’s a walking area and did you carry a big lens with you?

Fine series, Allen. Here in Oklahoma, I’m awaiting the appearance of the neotropical migrants. They should be arriving soon.

It’s just off I-5. It has a couple of miles of trails and a big lens is helpful. Winter/early spring is the best time as the ducks leave soon after.
