Black Pool

The blueness seen in many of Yellowstone’s hot springs changes with the sky color. In this view of Black Pool (West Thumb geyser basin) and Yellowstone lake, you can compare the reflected blue of the lake with the more turquoise blue of Black Pool, where the dissolved silica (white) changes the color seen in the pool. The use of the walkway to echo the line of the mountains works well. The trees support the frame well, too. Misty crusty goodness in and around the spring is a great touch, too. Makes me think it was a crisp day out even if it wasn’t.

I echo Kristen’s comments. Beautiful image. She mentions crisp day. If you took it recently it must have been more than crisp. If I remember correctly, it was -32 F yesterday.
