Jim, this looks decently sharp. I think I can see hints of the eye facets, but at NPN sizes, I can’t be sure of that. The colors of the Dasher blend well with the background. It’s interesting that it’s pointing it’s abdomen at the sun even as the shadow says that the sun wasn’t that bright. The contrast looks right for the amount of sun. My limited experience with teleconverters is that I always can see a slight loss in sharpness, although whether that matters depends on what you’re interested in doing with the final image. I do see a number of dust spots in the upper right half of the frame.
Thank you Mark. Found several more dust bunnies and rubber stamped the. I also did a couple of curve adjustments to add a little punch and contrast to the image…Jim
I love both shots, Jim but am partial to #2. The blue-green BG really sets the Dasher off, imo. Very crisp, very pretty.
Jim, I have never tried experimenting with the 2X teleconverter on a long lens for DF or similar insects. That combination sure made for a nice smooth background. I have used an extension tube a few times. It looks like you got rid of the dust bunnies in the repost. I think the added contrast gave it a bit more punch too. I love the stem he is on, and how it bends in the frame. A nice shot.
Great photo Jim. I do believe I can see it eye lashes. Definitely like the re-post. Nicely done.
Jim: I don’t often break out my 2x but you’re reminding me that it can be a very useful tool. Steadying that rig is the challenge but looks like you mastered it very nicely. I especially like the pose and the light on the perch. The repost is a nice improvement on an already fine image. Most excellent. >=))>
