Self Critique

I managed to get direct eye contact and eliminate distracting elements with out of focus foreground and background. It would have been nice to have a gopher in her mouth but “you can’t always get what you want” - Mick Jagger

Technical Details

Sony A-1 with 200-600 Sony lens at 600 mm and 1/1000 sec,ISO 8000 and used Topaz Denoise to eliminate noise.

Description

Hunted for 2 days to find a Bobcat and found this one at about 30 min to sunset in fairly low light.
She was actually fairly cooperative as long as I made no fast movements and stayed low she pretty much ignored me. She was hunting for gophers and made several attempts with no luck. She actually walked within 25 feet so I stayed on the ground and froze.

Larry - an excellent portrait of this cat. Your persistence paid off well!
The thumbnail looks as if it could be a pooping pose - glad it’s not.
Nice detail and bright eyes. I like the environment, with the blurs.
If it were mine, I’d consider removing the white weed by the head, and the weed over the tail. They don’t add anything.
Sweet!

Thanks I see the white streak behind tail and will try removing.

The pose is interesting as she is getting ready to make a quick turn. I would warm the WB up slightly as the lighting is on the blue side. The grass stems don’t bother me, but I can see why you may want to remove the light ones indicated by @Sandy_Richards-Brown . Wonderful capture…Jim

Really funky pose here. Nice sharp details on a good looking cat.

I assume you’re trying to balance the OOF foreground and background, but there’s far too much empty space below for my tastes. The subject isn’t really grounded in the frame (the excellent wide stance sort of begs for that), and there’s nothing that really leads our eyes down that way.
