Description

Sedona, AZ
This little white-breasted nuthatch was very happy with the peanut butter I put out.
It was below freezing every night for the whole week we were there.

Specific Feedback

I liked the stalk of seeds, even though it kind of overwhelmed the little bird.
Acceptable and interesting, or TOO overwhelming?

Excellent look at the nuthatch. The color of the underparts goes well with the bark. Now that you mention it, those seed pods do tend to dominate.

Sandy,

Very cool composition. I know you were making the photo of the bird, but even if the bird was not part of the photo, it would still be interesting. The color of the stalk contrasts so well with the muted background, and the bird is just the icing on the cake so to speak.

A nice frame with many interesting elements, Sandy. I like the seed stalk and the typical nuthatch pose. The nuthatch is sharp and well exposed. The composition is a little odd, but I can see the difficulty with the elements being where they are and how the nuthatch is facing. I would have liked to see the entire seed stalk also in focus - perhaps a little higher dof - since that is also a subject of interest in the image.
