Wow, excellent! Great detail, cool pose, perfect perch with the lichens.
A tighter crop would work well, too, if you chose.

Very nice catch! I’d bet he wasn’t there long… Compositionally, I think the perch is a bit visually heavy and the left half not providing balance, although the BG is very nice and very interesting. I wonder about some crop from both sides. Something strange is going on in the eye.

Very nice, David. Excellent detail in the nuthatch. I think the eye thing is a reflection of something. This is a tough one to crop due to the angle of the nuthatch. I think the ideal thing for this image would be to frame it in a mat with a circular or oval hole which would get rid of the ugly part of the perch and keep the nice parts.

Nice catch David and good advice above. Another thought is to simply burn down the perch in the lower right. These birds are so hard to catch in any pose and I like the look of this one.

I like this pretty much as is. It’s an interesting perch with the textures in the wood and the lichen and it makes for something of a leading line to the nuthatch. Good pose and detail in the bird.
