Description
White-breasted nuthatch, Sedona, AZ
Jim always laughs when I keep a bag of birdseed and mealworms in the car when we travel. It was put to good use this morning.
We don’t see nuthatches at home, but this little one was happy with the food, as it was 28 degrees.

I hope you were up in the mountains at that temperature, Sandy. A nice shot of this little guy. We take bird food traveling and if I’m pulling the trailer, I put a portable drip system in to attract the birds.
Perfect depth of field with just a little fall off on the branch at each side, then the background is nicely out of focus to allow one to really concentrate on the branch & bird’s detail. Nice catchlight on the eye and for some reason, I really enjoy exploring the sharp feet and branch below. We have these guys in our area, and most of the time I see them, they are upside down. Very nice capture, and I enjoy the balance with the Nuthatch and the bark on the branch.
HI Sandy, a really cute subject and I like its placement in the frame. Interesting perch too. Pleasing background. I find these birds lightning fast around my set up so congrats on getting this image.
