Coastal Chaos

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Whenever I go to the Oregon Coast I’m always on the lookout for beach details in the rocks, tide pools and driftwood. Found this at Ecola Beach SP and was stimulated to work and post it after considering images for the Weekly Challenge last week. >=))>

Specific Feedback

Cooled down the WB to get more blue in the image and just for fun applied an oil paint filter. Any preference?

I like both, Bill. Quite abstract, though the driftwood aspect does sneak through, particularly at the bulge near the bottom which looks a little more 3-D than most of the image. I do love the patterns and the oil painting filter seems to add a bit to the feeling of turbulent waters that I get from this image. It would really be cool if they had a brush that would allow you to apply the brush stroke pattern following the grain of the wood. I think you could get some spectacular results doing that.
