Description

I was hiking in a great neighborhood park in Illinois when I found this tree. It had all kinds of twists and turns and loads of character. I got in close with my Wide-angle lens to fill the frame with the fantastic curves of the tree trunk.

Todd, this view has tons of character with all of it’s ins and outs, twists and swirls. This looks good as presented, but I’d also suggest pushing the contrast in the bark (you probably don’t want the shadowed region any darker). That could give a bit more drama, which may or may not be what you want.

Todd, well seen and great use of the wide angle.

I keep wanting to rotate the canvas counter-clockwise to make the trunks vertical and enter straight-center out of the bottom of the frame. I’m thinking that may better highlight the symmetry, which in turn might add to the abstract appeal of this image. Otherwise, I concur with Mark’s suggestion.

Great catch, this one has plenty of post-shutter processing potential!
