Cottonwood Winter Light

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Chasing the winter light in the canyons of Zion reveals unexpected surprises. After a cloudless and sunny day of finding compositions of spotlit cottonwood trees against the dark canyon walls, when I closed my eyes to finally get some sleep, these scenes would keep popping into my imagination! This was taken quite literally on the side of the road.

Technical Details

ISO 100, 200mm, f/16, 1/10 second

Beth: When I first saw the thumbnail I wondered if this was Zion. I was delighted to find out it is and this brought back some nice memories. My wife and I were there in the winter of 2014/15 and came across some spotlit trees like this. I didn’t get a similar comp but the opportunity was wonderful. I like your presentation here with just enough detail in the shadows to be a clue as to the whereabouts. Nicely seen and captured. >=))>
