Description
A tiny little stream on our former property in Sandy, Oregon
The peep-hole to the tiny rivulets below was about 12 inches across. I was on my hands and knees in the icy water, but at least had the sense to put on my flannel-lined jeans and waders. I’ know I’m a total wuss, but I have all kinds of heated garments for winter.
Shivering is not conducive to photography!

I really like this one, Sandy. For one thing, the color palette is very pleasing. The details are interesting. I also like the framing and the blur in the water.
Although it may sound odd, if it were mine I’d consider eliminating the leaf at the center. My eye keeps getting dragged back to it. But it’s a fine shot either way.
I’m with you and the cold. I don’t go out much in the winter. I also wear good cold weather gear when I do go out. Although I don’t have waiters. I try and stay out of water.
I like the hexagon framed leaf in the center. It’s all by itself trying to hang on. With the 6 sec exposure time, I can’t tell in which direction the water is flowing so It’s all frozen in time. I like it, Th, Th, Th, Thanks!
Well worth the trouble! The ice shapes are wonderful against the flowing water – excellent choice of SS, and the aperture gave very nice DOF. I wonder about just a tad warmer – uh, as in WB. The actual temperature was obviously a good choice.
Lovely intimate scene Sandy. I like the subdued color palette and the ice framing the water in the middle works very nicely. Kudos for getting in the cold water!
Sandy: As one who much prefers to sweat vs shiver I sympathize with your cold aversion. However there are compelling images to be made in the cold and you found one here. Nice choice of SS. This does look just a touch cool/blue but still looks pretty darn good as is. Nicely done. >=))>
