Curlew Camo

Image(s)

Image Description

Love these slender birds. Found three foraging in a dried-up pond where tall grass had sprouted and turned golden. They stood completely still for a couple of minutes, then went back to foraging.

Just sharing for fun. I kept contrast down to preserve the camo effect.

Oh! Please tell me there’s not three birds in this image! It’s so good. What a great subject for the challenge.

Good idea keeping the contrast down.

I’ve never seen curlews in grass like this either, so the image is an absolute treat for me in every respect.

Thanks Glenys — only one Curlew here. But one was enough !

Definitely a well camouflaged bird here, James. Nice that you’ve got a clear look at the eye in both posts.

Thanks Mark – didn’t mean to post same shot twice. Couldn’t figure out how to delete one of them.

James, to delete the second image, open your post and click on the pencil icon at the bottom. The new window will show some strange text starting with ![ and ending with .jpeg) with several empty lines above and below. That’s what tells the system about your picture. In your case, you’ll see this twice. Select and delete one of those two. (or leave it…no big deal)
