Description
It’s the beginning of summer fog season in Israel. But fog wave hunting is always a gamble… pure excitement when it arrives, and sometimes the disappointment of a “standard” sunrise (can you ever be really disappointed from a sunrise..?).
In this particular morning, there was some fog - but the clouds were a bit too high for a fog wave to form. However, I could have sat there for hours watching the clouds as they arrive over the desert, and as they start falling into the crater - never really reaching it. So decided to try make a lemonade out of this lemon.
A pre-sunrise image from one of my favorite locations.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Tom, I could see myself doing exactly what you described and simply enjoy the scene. I like the colors and the DOF you displayed here. The gradual color change from dark to light is mesmerizing, especially when it reaches warm tones in the horizon. I wonder if there is more to the right of the image that you presented here. It would be great if the crater were just a little more to the left of the frame and not so close to the right. It is as if my eyes want to rest in the crater, but then I see the mountain rising to the right of it. Let me be clear that I am not advocating for a tighter crop at all. That would put the curved cloud too close to the frame. This is a beautiful image and very serene.
Thank you for your critique dear Egídio. The right side of the frame is bounded where the side of the hill I was standing on starts… there’s another “saw tooth” there but it is obscured by the hill I’m standing on.
I get what you wrote regarding the right side, it would indeed be nice to have the crater more to the left, so the bottom of the frame “falls” too. Might try another position next time (although I do hope that next time the clouds will be lower ).
Again, thank you for your kind feedback @Egídio !
I would say that you made some wonderful lemonade, Tom. I like the simplicity here with the colors and shapes as it makes for a peaceful moment while watching the sunrise. No suggestions from me.
