Cycle of Life

This second version responds to the suggestion of @Nao_Koju

Nourish the seedling
Three centuries from today
It will feed offspring

I was struck by this tiny scene a few months ago. As I played with it I realized that the job of everything in the scene was to nourish this little hemlock, which will in turn become a fallen nurse log.

Specific Feedback Requested

The upper left quadrant is quite expansive, but I have convinced myself that it acts as negative space to accentuate our little hero. Suggestions most welcome, of course.

Fantastic cycle of life! You got the nice image of the little hero hemlock. It stands up firmly and quite amazing! As you say, the upper left quadrant works well to show the environment. If it looks a bit too expansive, it could be reduced a little darker.

Thank you. I will play with darker. How does the second version strike you?

The negative space works for me Dick, I look at it the same way you do. Envisioning this seedling as a nurse log is really take the long term view on things, but there is a nice nature story here in that regard. My only suggested tweak would be to reduce the saturation on the orange needles in the LLC if you want to place a bit more emphasis on the seedling itself.
