Description

Botswana Woman
The ladies walk many miles every day to search for food, water, and firewood.
Meanwhile, you see all the men lazing under trees and doing nothing useful at all.
The worst is seeing a lady with a child on her back, carrying 4 heavy bags of stuff from a grocery store, with the man walking several paces ahead, completely empty-handed.
The meager food in her bowl is what she will eat for the entire day.

Additional info added after Dennis’s comment about not looking very “downtrodden” : She has 12 children, a 12 x 12 shack with no water, electricity Toilet, or cooking facilities, sleeps on the dirt floor with her children on a thin blanket, and wears an old, stained shirt and open shoes that don’t fit. She also said she has TB.

Very typical of far too many cultures, Sandy. A very fine image, though in itself, I don’t think it sends the message you’re writing about in the description. This woman just doesn’t have a very downtrodden look about her.

We take for granted the culture and society we live in many, more advanced countries. This is a really nice image that shows the work that needs to be done by many in the world just to get something to eat and provide for a family. I like the expression that shows in the closeup Sandy.
